In 1975, Vitasoy introduced Tetra Pak carton packaging technology to Hong Kong. At that time, this cutting-edge, Swedish packaging technology was unprecedented and revolutionary. It provided convenience in storage and made consumption on-the-go possible. By adopting the Ultra High Temperature (UHT) Treatment to package the product in aseptic conditions, it extends the shelf life of beverages, allowing a longer storage period of a product at an ambient temperature, with no preservatives added while maintaining the great quality of the product.

ECO-TALKS
The Beverage Carton Sustainability Mobile Education Centre offers an easy-to-understand introduction to the composition and recycling secrets of beverage cartons, along with a display of the range of everyday products developed from upcycling beverage cartons. Visitors can hop on for interactive activities, try their hands at clean recycling and win prizes while learning more about recycling!
The programme provided fun and interactive exhibitions and workshops to engages with students and the public, providing multifaceted knowledge about the importance of sustainability and proper recycling methods and concepts.
Sustainability enthusiast are invited to engage with schools and communities with eco-talk to share knowledge about importance of beverage carton recycling, sustainable forest practices and circular economy.
UPCYCLING OF BEVERAGE CARTONS
Using Hot Press Technology, the cartons are heat-pressed and upcycled to become chipboard as part of a recycling bin and furniture.
Using Extrusion Technology, the used beverage cartons after pre-treatment are upcycled into Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) for making furniture, such as a bench.
Using Repulping Technology, the pulp separated from cartons is upcycled for producing paper-based everyday objects like Cardboard, Coaster, Stationery and Household Paper.
